@stephencurry30, dubbed “Batman” by @jimmybutler, continued hitting wild Playoff 3-pointers in Game 1 vs. Houston! 🦇GSW-HOU Game 2: 9:30pm/et on TNT

Stephen Curry has been called a lot of things throughout his career — the greatest shooter of all time, a game-changer, a two-time MVP — but his newest nickname comes courtesy of Heat star Jimmy Butler, and it just might be the most fitting of them all: “Batman.”

Why? Because like Gotham’s caped crusader, Curry thrives in the shadows, delivering his most dangerous blows when the lights shine brightest. And in Game 1 of the Golden State Warriors’ opening-round matchup against the Houston Rockets, Curry was back in superhero form, hitting a series of jaw-dropping, physics-defying threes that reminded everyone why he’s still one of the most feared postseason performers in the league.

Curry finished with 34 points, including seven three-pointers, many of them off-balance, off the dribble, and from distances that would make most coaches cringe — unless, of course, you’re Steve Kerr and the guy taking those shots is Steph Curry.

The highlight reel was endless. A leaning, one-legged fadeaway from 30 feet as the shot clock expired. A step-back triple in transition with two defenders draped all over him. And the dagger — a deep bomb from the logo that sent the Chase Center crowd into an absolute frenzy and sealed the Warriors’ 117-105 Game 1 win.

“It’s wild, man,” said Draymond Green postgame. “You think you’ve seen everything Steph can do, and then he does something even crazier. That’s why Jimmy calls him Batman — he just shows up and saves the day, every time.”

The nickname has caught on quickly, especially after Butler used it in a recent interview when asked which player he least likes to see get hot in the playoffs. “Steph is Batman,” Butler said. “You think you’re up, you think you’ve got it under control, then boom — he changes the whole game in like two minutes.”

That’s exactly what happened in Game 1. Houston, behind a strong showing from their young core, had clawed their way back to within five late in the third quarter. But then Curry erupted — hitting three triples in under 90 seconds, turning a tight game into a double-digit lead before the Rockets even knew what hit them.

“You can prepare all you want,” Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said. “But with Steph, there’s only so much you can do. He’s got that playoff switch, and when he flips it, good luck.”

Curry’s performance came at a crucial time for the Warriors, who are trying to re-establish themselves as title contenders after an up-and-down regular season. With Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins struggling to find rhythm in Game 1, Curry once again shouldered the load — just like he’s done for over a decade.

And he’s not slowing down anytime soon.

“I love this time of year,” Curry said after the game. “It’s the playoffs. The energy’s different. Every shot means a little more, every possession matters. That’s when I’m at my best.”

Game 2 tips off at 9:30pm ET on TNT, and Houston will need to come with a new game plan if they hope to cool off the Dark Knight of the Bay. But if history is any indicator, Curry thrives in these moments — especially when he’s already warmed up.

So buckle up, NBA fans. Steph Curry, a.k.a. “Batman,” is in full playoff mode. And when he’s in that zone, not even Gotham’s villains could stop him — let alone the Rockets.
